    Awards & Accolades

    1. Four organizations were recognized for their achievements at the Western Maricopa Coalition‘s 29th annual Best of the West Awards, which were recently held at State Farm Stadium.

    Winners included:

    • Economic Engine: FLITE Goodyear;
    • Excellence in Innovation: ASU J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute partnership with Peoria Forward;
    • Quality of Life Enhancement in the Community: Peoria Community Arts Project;
    • Quality of Life Enhancement in Education: West-MEC Southwest Campus;
    • Inspiration in Leadership Award: Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord;
    • Regional Advancement Award: Grand Canyon University, and
    • President’s Choice Award: Karla Moran, Salt River Project.

    Finalists included:

    • Economic Engine: Andersen Corporation;
    • Excellence in Innovation: City of Peoria’s PopUp Peoria;
    • Quality of Life Enhancement in the Community: Goodyear Recreation Campus, and
    • Quality of Life Enhancement in Education: West Valley Microsoft Datacenter Academy.

    2. The International Economic Development Council has awarded the Arizona Association for Economic Development with an Innovation in Economic Development Gold Award for its program “Economic Development Week 2021: Collaborative Arizona Communities.” The honor was presented to AAED during the IEDC Annual Conference in Nashville.

    Three other Arizona organizations were honored with a Gold Award from IEDC.

    • City of Mesa – Office of Economic Development: Economic Equity and Inclusion Gold Award for CARES HUUB;
    • City of Tucson and Pima Community College: Partnerships with Educational Institutions Gold Award for its Thrive in the 05 program;
    • Greater Phoenix Economic Council: Economic Development Organization of the Year Gold Award.

    Six other Arizona communities received Silver Awards.

    • City of Surprise received three Silver Awards: Multimedia and Video Promotion Silver Award, Special Event Silver Award, and Multi-year Economic Development Silver Award for the Annual Retail Survey;
    • City of Goodyear: Digital Media Silver Award;
    • City of Goodyear and Merit Partners Inc.: Multi-year Economic Development Silver Award for the completion of the PV303 Business Park.
    • City of Mesa – Office of Economic Development: Economic Development Organization of the Year Silver Award.

    Boards & Commissions

    3. Joseph Brophy, a partner at Jennings Haug Cunningham, has been elected to serve as Secretary for The State Bar of Arizona’s Construction Law Section’s Executive Council 2021/2022 term.

    4. Lindsay Welch, VP of Corporate Relations for Tech Parks Arizona, has been appointed to the CREW Board of Directors. Welch will join nine other women who work in commercial real estate who serve on the board of directors.

    5. Pimmex Contracting and Chasse Building Team have announced Pimmex Chasse, a joint venture created to pursue development opportunities on tribal land.

    6. Moon Valley Nurseries has secured $775M from Stonecourt Capital LP in a combination of equity and debt to finance expansion into new markets and aid in acquisitions. The company currently has farms and retail outlets in Arizona, California, Texas and Nevada.

    7. Goodmans Interior Structures, a Herman Miller distributor for 53 years, is adding the legendary design brand Knoll to their portfolio, making Goodmans Arizona’s exclusive distributor for both companies. In addition, Goodmans will represent all 19 of their affiliated brands.

    8. Tauro Capital Advisors, Inc. announced it will open an office in Scottsdale. The new location will be Tauro’s first outside California.

    New Hires

    9. Michael R. Fletcher has joined the real estate, business, and construction transactions, and commercial disputes resolution and litigation teams of Gallagher & Kennedy as a shareholder.

    10. Eric Jaegers has joined Clayco as SVP, Residential Business Unit Leader.

    11. Harshitnh Cahuhan and Mo Eissa have joined Coreslab Structures as Project-Engineers-in-Training. Cahuhan had previously served at the company as an intern.
