Giving Back
1. The David R. Sellers Foundation has partnered with the Scott Keppel Foundation to raise $20K towards their mission of helping those impacted by cancer, obesity, domestic violence and/or helping local pet shelters. The fundraising campaign titled “The Unbreakable Challenge” brought people together through a community strength training session, while educating participants on the importance of physical fitness and holistic health.
2. Rosendin welcomed Phoenix-native and Arizona State University student Christina Fisher to its 2021 Summer Internship Program. This year’s intern class is comprised of 65 students from 35 colleges and universities from across the country. Rosendin’s internship program gives college students real-world experience in project management, estimating, safety, Building Information Modeling, IT, finance, and marketing while pathing the way for further career development.

3. Goodyear Parks & Recreation Director Nathan Torres recently received the 2021 Gabe Zimmerman Public Service Award in the Community Builder category. Torres received the Gabe Zimmerman award for his hard work in driving public engagement in the design of the Goodyear Recreation Campus, as well as his efforts to keep Goodyear residents connected throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

4. Realtor Branden Freeman is the latest member to be appointed to the Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission. He volunteered for the position in order to serve the community.

5. Haydon Building Corp is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a prestigious award and the passing of the torch to new leadership. Haydon was named 2021 ENR Southwest Contractor of the Year. It was honored for its commitment to employees and culture, in addition to a strong portfolio of projects and record-breaking backlog. Haydon also announced a succession plan with the promotions of Executive Vice President | Partner Katie Haydon Perry and COO | Senior Vice President Matt Carpenter. Katie Haydon Perry is transitioning into the role as President of the company over the next two years.
Promotions
6. Construction industry veteran Shad Bowman has been promoted to lead the business development efforts for Sundt Construction‘s Industrial Group. In his new role as the Industrial Group’s Vice President and Business Development Manager, Bowman will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Group’s business development teams in the fast-growing areas of water, advanced technology, mining, industrial manufacturing and energy sectors.
7. NAI Horizon announced it has promoted two industry professionals within its marketing department, Meg Ohanesian Zemlicka to Director of Marketing and Sabrina Drummond to Marketing Manager. Zemlicka, a marketing and design expert, was recently hired as NAI Horizon’s Marketing Manager. Drummond recently joined the team as Marketing Coordinator.
8. Lee & Associates announced the promotion of Andrew Fenton to Associate. Fenton recently completed his first transaction consisting of 9.5KSF on a five-year deal in the Scottsdale Airpark. Fenton joined Lee & Associates in April of 2019 as a runner under the leadership of Bill Blake and Colton Trauter, both principals in Lee and Associates’ Office Division. Fenton plans to specialize in landlord and tenant representation regarding office leasing and sales.
New Hires
9. Pangolin Structural has added Carrie Bailes, Director of Business Development, to their team. She is known for her strong work ethic, follow-through, and her ability to establish long-term business relationships across multiple business sectors. Bailes brings close to 20 years’ experience to her role and will be responsible for pursuing strategic project types for Pangolin Structural.
10. Colliers International has announced the appointment of data center and digital infrastructure veteran Michael Ortiz as Senior Vice President based in the Phoenix office. Ortiz’s return to Colliers was one which made sense on many fronts for the Colliers brand as it continues to focus on expanding the company’s portfolio of innovative technology solutions and strategic global opportunities touching all things digital infrastructure.
11. Kimball Earl and Mindy Linder have joined Clear Title Agency of Arizona as Escrow Officers. Earl is an Arizona native and began working in the industry in 2003, focusing mostly on the builder segment. He brings to his position experience with multiple home builders, including Ashton Woods Homes, LGI Homes, KB Homes, Rosewood Homes and Porchlight Homes. Linder’s most recent eighteen years were spent with a focus on home builder transactions for multiple builders, including Taylor Morrison Homes, New Home Company, Gehan Homes and Century Complete Homes.
12. Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced the appointment of Gil Gonzalez as Vice President of Development, Multifamily. Gonzalez began at Ryan in early July and will focus on multifamily development pursuits in Arizona, as well as California and Washington. Based out of Ryan’s Phoenix office, Gonzalez will lead all aspects of multifamily development processes including sourcing and negotiating deals, conducting financial analyses, collaborating with capital markets for debt and equity funding, entitlements, and working with construction and property management teams.
13. Matthews Real Estate Investment Services hired Bob Osbrink as Executive Vice President and Market Leader for the Phoenix office. Osbrink comes with extensive commercial real estate experience. He served as co-CEO of Grubb and Ellis and served as vice president of the Orange County division of Marcus & Millichap.
14. Merit Partners recently added Jack Czerwinski as Managing Director. Czerwinski brings a wide breadth of knowledge to Merit Partners. He began his career as an analyst at Cole Real Estate Investments, now known as Vereit. Following that, Czerwinski worked, as a real estate representative for Minneapolis-based developer, The Opus Group. He then joined Majestic Realty Co.
15. Newmark Knight Frank announced Cameron Palmer, MAI, AI-GRS has joined the Valuation & Advisory (V&A) practice as an Executive Vice President. Palmer, based in the firm’s Phoenix office, specializes in multifamily valuation.
Transitions
16. Phoenix City Manager Ed Zuercher has recently announced his retirement. Zuercher plans to end his nearly three decades with the City of Phoenix effective October 8th. Zuercher has been Phoenix’s city manager since 2013, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the city for the mayor and City Council. Zuercher started as a management intern in 1993. He went on to serve in several roles, including public transit director, deputy city manager, chief of staff to the mayor, and assistant city manager.
