Giving Back
1. The Sundt Foundation awarded over $80K in grants to 23 Phoenix-area nonprofits during its first-quarter disbursements. The Sundt Foundation awards grants each quarter to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
2. The fourth annual Tour de Ren, a high-energy charity spin event benefitting Phoenix Children’s Hospital, will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 3rd, 2020 in the outdoor courtyard at Renaissance Square (2nd and 40th N. Central Avenue) in downtown Phoenix. Tour de Ren is hosted by Renaissance Square ownership, Oaktree Capital Management and Cypress Office Properties, and property management and leasing partners CBRE and Lee & Associates.

3. Michael Strittmatter, First Vice President CBRE Advisory & Transaction Services, Investor Leasing, has been named 2020 Chairman for the Arizona Chapter of NAIOP’s Developing Leaders (DL) program, which serves commercial real estate professionals age 35 and under.
4. Achen-Gardner Construction has won the Ben Patton Luster Construction Safety Excellence Award from the Arizona Transportation Builders Association. This award recognizes a companywide commitment to safety and creative solutions to safety challenges.

5. The PENTA Building Group held its 12th Annual Safety Kick-Off on February 27th in Phoenix. The event served to educate about the importance of safety to ensure that it remains top of mind for all PENTA employees, subcontractors and others in the industry.
Promotions
6. DWL Architects + Planners, Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed Sandra Kukla, AIA, as president of the firm. Kukla succeeds Steve Rao, who will remain with the firm as executive vice president. Throughout her 20 years at the firm, Sandra has led several significant projects such as the recently completed Terminal 3 Modernization at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
7. The Renaissance Companies recently promoted two people to their executive team. Jeff Dalton recently joined the firm and his role as Vice President will include leading Business Development and Marketing, as well as Pre-Construction. Tyler Elmer will continue to lead the Facilities Construction Group as Vice President focusing on challenging industrial, medical, life science and commercial tenant improvement and renovation, and ground-up projects.
8. Rosendin recently promoted David Elkins to senior vice president of field operations and Fred Meeske to vice president of BIM services.
New Hires
9. Haydon Building Corp. hired Bryan Bernardo as multifamily market sector leader and Mike Norburg as building division senior project superintendent. In these new roles, Bernardo and Norburg will partner to lead the company’s efforts in furthering their multi-family and senior living market sectors.
10. Cambridge Companies hired Nancy Conner as project coordinator. Conner’s responsibilities will be to collaborate with both Operations and Accounting. She will prepare and distribute subcontract agreements; process monthly subcontractor invoices; request and review lien waivers; compliance management; process change orders and manage contracts.
11. Lauren Nickle has joined Benchmark Electronics as the sector vice president for Aerospace & Defense. In this role, she will be leading go-to-market efforts for the aerospace and defense business driving growth across the portfolio including engineering solutions and services.
12. Doug Singer has joined Haydon Building Corp. assisting in their business development group. Singer is a 30-year industry veteran who will continue to further Haydon’s business development efforts through his experience in finance, operations, risk management, marketing, innovation, and established network of industry relationships.
