Groundbreakings
1. Chandler Unified School District broke ground on Galveston Elementary School a 72KSF elementary school. Orcutt | Winslow partnered with McCarthy Building Companies as the architect and general contractor. The rebuild is expected to cost $25M and be completed in October 2024. The demolition and construction of the new athletic fields are expected to be completed in October 2025.
2. Adolfson & Peterson Construction began construction at Superstition Springs Lexus, a 35KSF dealership in Mesa. LOMA Architecture is the architect for the project. Completion is expected around the end of the year. The expected completion is the end of the year.
3. Chapman Auto Group began construction on the Ford Pro Elite Commercial Service Center in Scottsdale at AutoShow at Salt River. Agate Construction is the general contractor. Barry R. Barcus Architects and Kimley-Horn are the design firm and civil engineers. A full timeline has not been released.
4. Taylor Morrison is expected to break ground on 16 two-bedroom, two-bathroom houses for cancer patients and their families atBanner MD Anderson Cancer Center at Banner Gateway Medical Center. Phase one will begin early next year and will be the first eight homes with the rest to come later.
Progress Reports
5. Phase I is on track to open by the end of next year for Desert Diamond Casino on Tohono O’odham Nation property in the West Valley. The $450M facility will include 900 slot machines, a poker room, a retail sports bar, table games and dining venues.
6. Mark-Taylor Residential announced the opening of Isola Communities-owned Peralta Vista in Mesa. Planned for 135 units, Peralta Vista will offer one- and two-bedroom single-family rental homes. Sources at Isola Communities say completion is expected in Q2 2024.
7. Porter Kyle announced the opening of the 78-unit Ashley Luxury Townhomes in Chandler. The community, designed by Porter Kyle Architects and developed by Porter Kyle Builders, is actively leasing, with residents already having moved in. Phoenix-based MEB Management Services will be managing the lease-up.
8. The Florence elections building is under budget and ahead of schedule for construction. The expected completion is June 1, 2024.
Completions
9. Sonoran Desert Parkway, a major road project linking John Wayne Parkway and Interstate 10, is slated to open Oct. 11 after more than a decade of work and delay in Maricopa.
10. High Street Residential completed construction on a 310-unit residential community in Tempe called Smith & Rio. The five-story complex offers one- and two-bedroom units. Amenities include a fifth-floor sky lounge, dog park, work-from-home area, resort-style pool and spa, fitness center and a clubhouse.
