Groundbreakings
1. The Hualapai Tribe celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of Hualapai Recreational Park, a $500M development project to be constructed over the next decade in Peach Springs. The master-planned project will include 34 projects designed to bolster community facilities and services.
2. VanTrust Real Estate held a groundbreaking this week for Phase I of VT 101, a three-building, 750KSF industrial park in Glendale. JLL is the brokerage firm. Layton Construction is the general contractor. Butler Design Group is the architect.
3. Vero A2R—the office investment platform of Vero Capital—in association with Stream Realty Partners, have announced the start of a $29M redevelopment project for the 410KSF INISIO at Kierland. Willmeng Construction is the general contractor. Design services are by Zebra Projects and Good City Studio. Redevelopment of the two-building campus is expected to be completed in Q4.
4. Queen Creek Unified School District announced the groundbreaking for Mountain Trail Elementary School, a 90KSF educational facility in Mesa. Expected completion is July 2025. Construction and land acquisition were funded by the state School Facilities Division.
Progress Reports
5. Developers Medistar Corp., GMH Communities and CBRE Investment Management held a topping off ceremony at Central Station in downtown Phoenix. The ceremony marked the topping off of the tallest of the project’s two towers. In total, Central Station will feature 1.1MSF, with a 22-story tower and a 33-story tower offering a mix of residential, office and retail space. The building is scheduled to be completed in Summer 2025. Transwestern handles office leasing. Phoenix Commercial Advisors is marketing the property for retail.
6. Officials with Community Health Development Partners say the 17KSF Lake Havasu City Community Health Center in The Shops at Lake Havasu City retail center will open later this year. The space includes a four-operating room surgery center, two rooms for procedures, 14 beds for pre- and post-operative care, and a cardiac catheterization lab. A certificate of occupancy is expected in the next 30-60 days, with the opening to follow.
Completions
7. Transwestern Development Company and its investment partners, Globe Corporation and University Realty, announced the completion of Vero, a 199-unit apartment community at Novus Innovation Corridor in Tempe. The seven-story community offers a resort-style pool, fitness center, coworking space with conference rooms, a clubhouse and bike storage. Greystar manages the complex and leasing.
8. Barrow Neurological Institute has opened The Barrow Neuro Analytics Center, a 10.1KSF laboratory at Phoenix Medical Quarters in Phoenix. The facility will house 10 principal research investigators and their teams.
9. Maricopa County celebrated the grand opening of Salt River Flats, a 192-unit low-income housing community in Phoenix. The Arizona Department of Housing funded $4.75M to develop the community.
10. KBE Building Corporation announced the completion of Abbington of Gilbert, an 86-unit independent and assisted living facility in Gilbert. The senior living community was developed by Woodbury Corporation. FFKR Architects is the designer.
11. Pinal County announced the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Pinal Votes Building (Voter Operations Technology and Election Services) in Florence.
12. The City of Mesa’s Office of Economic Development announced the opening ofMesa Business Builder @ The Studio, a 17KSF innovation hub in Mesa. Mesa spent $4M in renovating a library into MBB.
