Awards & Accolades
1. The Estrella Welcome Center was awarded Best Sales Environment at the Major Achievements in Merchandising Excellence Awards, hosted by the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona. This is the second award Estrella Welcome Center has received this year after February’s Silver Award at The National Awards 2024 competition by NAHB.
Groundbreakings
2. Greenlight Communities broke ground on Streamliner 87, a 190-unit apartment community in Peoria. The community offers studio, one- and two-bedroom units. Streamliner 87 is a joint venture between Greenlight Communities and Holualoa Companies.
3. Catholic Charities announced the start of Phase II of its Acacia Heights project, a 66-unit low-income housing development in Phoenix. Expected completion is September 2024. Housing for Hope, an affiliate of Catholic Charities, manages leasing. Phase I was a 78-unit senior housing built by the Foundation for Senior Living. Phase III will be a 68-unit complex that will replace a Catholic Charites office building.
Progress Reports
4. LG Energy Solution announced that its $5.5B battery manufacturing complex is on track to be completed by 2026 in Queen Creek. The complex consists of two manufacturing facilities: a cylindrical battery plant called LG Energy Solution Arizona and an ESS battery manufacturing facility called LG Energy Solution Arizona ESS. LG Energy Solution Arizona is expected to be completed in late 2025, with the other facility to be finished the following year.
5. Agate Construction held a topping off ceremony at Chapman Automotive Group’s new 104KSF Ford Pro Elite Commercial Service Center in Scottsdale.
6. Chandler Unified School District recently celebrated a construction milestone by placing the highest beam on the $30M, 81KSF rebuild of Galveston Elementary School. Construction is expected to be completed in October 2024. McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor and Orcutt | Winslow is the architect.
Completions
7. Jackson Dearborn Partners announced the opening of Solace at Ballpark, a 211-unit multifamily complex in Goodyear. This complex is Jackson Dearborn’s first completed project in Arizona with five more projects planned.
8. The Phoenix Suns have moved the team offices out of the Footprint Center to a newly renovated space in the Lincoln Union building a few blocks away in Phoenix. Player 15 Group is the owner of the new building.
9. Amphenol Industrial Operations, a division of Amphenol Corp., has opened its 58KSF solar product factory at the Metro East Valley Commerce Center in Mesa.
10. Willmeng Construction and Arizona State University held a celebration for the completion of the ASU Alumni Lawn renovation at the historic Old Main building in Tempe. The project was the rehabilitation and upgrade of 2.7 acres of outdoor space. Norris Design was the designer. Other partners in the project include Wood Patel Civil Engineers, Hawkeye Electric, DTR Landscape Development, M&J Construction and Dynamic Concrete.
