Groundbreakings
1. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the San Luis Community Hospital next to the Medical Mall at 151 S. Oak Ave. in San Luis. The Regional Center for Border Health originally announced the $75M project last year. The Medical Mall and Community Hospital will be connected to create one large building.
2. Creation announced the groundbreaking of Nexus Commerce Center. Creation acquired the 16-acre site in partnership with CrossHarbor Capital Partners and Amherst. Construction will consist of three buildings with a total footprint of 274KSF.
3. The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to help bring broadband internet access to more of northern Arizona by laying 201 miles of fiber-optic conduit along Interstate 40 between Flagstaff and California.
4. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Feb. 1 at 7618 N. 63rd Ave. for the Veterans Community Project of Glendale. The $14M project will provide 50 transitional housing units for veterans facing homelessness. A Village Center building will also be included to enable services from support staff.
Progress Reports
5. Queen Creek Unified School District’s 10th elementary school, Mountain Trail Academy, is estimated to open in July. The 90KSF school will serve students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Currently, workers are finalizing aesthetic details such as interior texture and exterior color finishes.
Completions
6. Nestlé USA announced the grand opening of its Glendale beverage factory and distribution center. The industrial facility will produce creamers and has the potential to produce additional beverages. Nestlé invested more than $675M in the facility.
7. The LG Energy Solution Workforce Training Center at Central Arizona College’s Superstition Mountain Campus has officially finished construction. LGES is expected to take occupancy within the next month. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is currently being planned.
8. AVE, the residential real estate brand of Korman Communities, in partnership with RXR, announced the opening of AVE Paradise Valley at 12400 N. Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix. The 400-apartment residential community was constructed as part of the reimagining of the former Paradise Valley Mall. Nelsen Partners and Streetlights Creative Studio designed the complex.
9. The $45M of renovation at the Esplanade office complex has finished. The work added 30KSF of amenity spaces, which include a new conference center, tenant lounge, full-service restaurant, fitness center and lobby enhancements. The amenity building is 16KSF and sits at the heart of the property.
10. AireBeam announced the completion of its fiber Internet infrastructurebuild for Rock Shadows and Superstition Sunrise RV parks in Apache Junction. Combined, the parks represent nearly 2,000 homes that will have access to high-speed fiber internet.
11. Construction on the John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road intersection is finishing early, with expected completion coming next week. The project is intended to increase the capacity of the intersection to accommodate the increasing traffic volume. A second phase of the project is planned for Q2 of this year.
