1. Two trailheads in the McDowell Sonoran Reserve have received Crescordia awards from Arizona Forward. The Fraesfield and Granite Mountain trailheads won in the categories for Natural Environment Preservation and Civic Buildings, Structures and Landscape Design.
Groundbreakings
2. Excavation and construction has gotten underway at Paragon Development’s 151-unit Build-to-Rent Hampton Edison community in Maricopa.
3. Alieron Apartments, a 287-unit multifamily development at 20350 N. 7th Ave. in Phoenix, is expected to break ground “within days.” The 11-building development is expected to deliver in mid-2024.
4. The Hermosa Drive Bridge over I-40 in Holbrook will be rehabilitated beginning this spring by the Arizona Department of Transportation. The bridge will receive a new bridge deck, guardrails and barriers. The roadway approaches to the bridge will be improved as well.
5. Abbington Gilbert Senior Living – A Woodbury Corporation Project, an 80KSF, two-story, 86-unit assisted living facility, of which 18 are memory care, will break ground April 4th.
Completions
6. Wespac Construction Inc., Phoenix, recently completed construction on Akimel Gateway, an 835KSF industrial park at the SWC of Loop 202 and 40th Street in Chandler, developed by Trammell Crow Company. The project is the first development on the Gila River Indian Community after the creation of the South Mountain freeway loop.
7. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held March 22nd for the new 120-bed Via Linda Behavioral Hospital on Horseshoe Road in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The first phase of the hospital, a 20-bed unit, will open soon. The facility was developed by HonorHealth and Universal Health Services, Inc.
8. The Arizona Department of Transportation-led SR 347 Sidewalk Project, Edison Road to Smith-Enke, part of efforts to beautify and improve John Wayne Parkway in Maricopa, is scheduled to open this week.
