Scottsdale is continuing to work toward a master plan for improvements to the Indian School Park and Tennis Center.
Along with a playground, a small lake and recreational activity areas, the 50-acre park northeast of Indian School and Hayden roads currently offers several sports-centric features, including:
- Two professional level baseball fields,
- Two basketball courts,
- Four racquetball and four sand volleyball courts, and
- 13 tennis courts.
The City is working with Kimley-Horn & Associates to solicit public input and develop plans for updating the park. An in-person workshop and a virtual meeting were held last year, and another virtual public workshop is scheduled for June 14.
The master plan will target amenities and services to be incorporated over the next 10-15 years.
Items discussed so far include possibly replacing the baseball fields with amenities that would be of more use to the general public, relieving traffic at Chaparral Park, improving access off of Hayden Road, and overhauling parking and accessibility throughout the facility.
The public input forums have yielded several suggestions so far, some of which have been mutually exclusive.
Once all the input has been received, elements from the various options will be combined into a final concept, which will go through a public review process and then submitted to City Council for final review and approval. (Source)
