Arizona Department of Transportation Director John S. Halikowski will retire from his position after nearly 14 years of service.
Changes in department-level leadership are common following the election of a new governor, particularly when that governor is of a different party than the preceding administration.
Under state law, the ADOT Board will give newly sworn in Gov. Katie Hobbs a list of three names for consideration this week. According to Hobbs’ staff, she will make her selection and announce Halikowski’s replacement “shortly.”
Former Gov. Jan Brewer appointed Halikowski to the director’s position in 2009, and he continued to serve through both terms of former Gov. Doug Ducey. (Source)
