Groundbreakings
1. Gila River Hotels & Casinos officially announced its newest project, Santan Mountain, at a groundbreaking ceremony this week on Gila River Indian Community land south of Chandler. When completed, the 160-acre, $150M project will feature more than 850 slots and table games, BetMGM Sportsbook, dining and will create more than 650 new jobs.
2. The Mangat Group has partnered with Aberdeen Management & Development to build and operate the next Arizona Self Storage facility in Peoria. They broke ground on October 20th. The new 122KSF, 875-unit facility will be located on the SWC of Loop 101 and Olive Avenue. Tony Mangat, founder of The Mangat Group, is the landowner and part owner of the new facility, making this his first array into the storage industry.
Progress Reports
3. Valleywise Health recently celebrated a significant milestone by reaching 50% completion on the new Valleywise Health Medical Center. The 673KSF, 10-story building is scheduled to open in October 2023 and replace the current medical center at 24th Street and Roosevelt in Phoenix, which opened in 1971.
4. Work is progressing on water features- including a lake, streams and a pebble pond – at Granite Dells Park. The water features and several other amenities should be available to the public in 18 months.
5. Beautification work on the John Wayne Parkway in Maricopa running on or ahead of schedule. The two-mile project will add plants, irrigation, concrete, lights and art elements, and a monument sign will be placed at the city’s northern entrance.
Completions
6. Adolfson & Peterson Construction and Higley Unified School District completed construction on a replacement field house for Williams Field High School in Gilbert. Designed by Orcutt | Winslow, the replacement project included the demolition of an existing concession stand, new landscaping and the construction of a new 14.5KSF field house.
7. Taylor Morrison Home debuted its newest Mesa master-planned community, La Mira, with the launch of new housing collections Discover and Expedition. Both collections have six floorplans.
8. Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation encompassing all 100 guestrooms and public spaces. Amara’s refreshed look takes inspiration from the surrounding red rocks and focuses heavily on bringing the outdoors in to create a “tree-lodge” aesthetic.
