Who Foots the Bill for COVID Building Changes
Incremental operating costs for office buildings could increase by at least $19.40/SF or 5.8 percent of average annual office rents at the beginning of 2020, according to a recent report from consulting firm Deloitte. These incremental costs could vary based on the measures taken at each property and the quality of materials used. But whether these added costs are the responsibility of the owner or the tenant will largely depend on the terms outlined in each lease. (Source: National Real Estate Investor)

    Impacts on the Office Environment
Rarely have changes to the look feel and function of office spaces been the result of some catastrophic event. Until now. Brooke Carroll, associate partner at McCarthy Nordburg, and David A. Hobart Jr., principal and design director for McCarthy Nordburg, provided AZRE Magazine with their thoughts on how the pandemic will change the office environment. (Source: AZ Big Media)
COVID’s Impacts on Affordable Housing Design
As the coronavirus’ grip continues into the summer and fall, affordable housing architects are thinking about ways their projects can meet the changing health and lifestyle needs of residents. The 5 primary impacts are: 1) Individualized spaces with private entrances, 2) Improved internet connectivity, 3) Socially distance community spaces, 4) Walkability and outdoor access, and 5) Touchless features, fixtures and finishes.
