Tucson City Council has approved sales tax reimbursements tied to new projects for both Bass Pro Shops and The Home Depot at the City Council meeting this week. Bass Pro Shops to Enter Southern Arizona Market Bass Pro Shops distributed a press release confirming the announcement of the new destination retail store coming to Tucson. This will be their third in the state and first in the Metro Tucson region. ADOT has released the Final 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan that provides a blueprint and vision for the state’s transportation system over the next 25 years. The plan, which is not project-specific, sets transportation investment priorities for ADOT and partner agencies based on anticipated future revenues and costs for improvements. ADOT will present the final plan for consideration and action at the State Transportation Board’s Oct. 20 meeting in Yuma. A broad cross-section of Arizonans, nearly 10,000 in all, took surveys, attended public meetings and shared comments through the public involvement process. Hawes Crossing MX Village 1, also known as Fore Green Development at Hawes Crossing, is a mixed-use project located to the west of Hawes Road on the north side of Elliot Road in East Mesa. It encompasses 7.19 acres dedicated to multifamily residential units, providing a range of housing options from studio apartments to one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Valley Metro and the City of Phoenix have initiated a community engagement effort to gather valuable input from residents regarding a proposed light rail route for the Maryvale area of west Phoenix. This transit project, known as the West Phoenix High-Capacity Transit Alternatives Analysis, aims to enhance high-capacity transit options in an area with significant transit demand. The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation have received a $970K grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. This grant, known as the Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration Grant, aims to improve safety in construction and maintenance work zones. ADOT and MCDOT plan to use the funds to introduce advanced technology in freeway and arterial road systems to enhance safety for both workers and drivers.
