By National Association of Home Builders The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has published a final rule revising its personal protective equipment fit requirements for the construction industry. The revised standard will go into effect on Jan. 13, 2025. According to a U.S. Department of Labor news release, the revision to the standard adds specific language requiring that employers provide PPE that “properly fits” construction industry workers, and the change aligns the construction industry standard with the standard already in place for general industry. The news release also states this matter has been a longstanding industry safety concern—particularly among some…

By Roland Murphy for AZBEX The Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended City Council deny a requested rezoning for Courtyard Apartments at 2060 N. Trekell Road. Owner FLM Enterprises, Inc. had requested a rezoning from multifamily to planned area development to allow the construction of 32 additional units on the 11.16-acre property. According to the submitted project narrative, recent General Plan amendments have been implemented that designate Trekell Road at East Korsten Road a community corridor, which would increase the maximum allowable density with a PAD to 25 units/acre. With 244 units already on site, the current density…

A City of Flagstaff planner presented a proposal for a new site for a U.S. federal courthouse at 1535 W. Route 66 during a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. If built, this would be the first federal courthouse in northern Arizona. Currently, if a Flagstaff resident is summoned to jury duty in a federal case, they must travel out of the area. A new federal courthouse would prevent that circumstance. The proposed courthouse would be approximately 38.4KSF on an approximately 4.1-acre site. The three-story building would include offices, meeting spaces and two courtrooms. The first floor would consist of meeting…
