The developer is seeking a minor General Plan amendment and rezoning for a roughly 1,940-acre site near Estrella Mountain Regional Park. In July, the County joined other jurisdictions around the state seeking to restrict data center development. In Mohave’s case, the Board enacted changes that removed data centers from the list of desired businesses under the County’s economic development goals. Planning and development professionals around Arizona should be aware of a major change scheduled to take effect at the end of the month. House Bill 2447 will significantly alter how local jurisdictions around the state manage site plan and development reviews. When the new law goes into effect Dec. 31, staff will review and approve development plans—including design reviews, site plans, plats and landscape plans—administratively. There will be no public hearings. HB2447 requires objective and quantifiable review standards to be established in every municipality. Those standards must be “clearly defined, measurable, and free from subjective judgment.” The legislation’s goals included…

The Indian Health Service has chosen the Ak-Chin Indian Community for a new Tribal healthcare facility as part of the IHS Joint Venture Construction Program. Seven recipients were announced across the country, with Ak-Chin as the only Arizona tribe selected. Notably, Ak-Chin is the first-ever Phoenix area participant. The project will replace an outdated existing 2KSF clinic. To date, the program has contributed to the operation or expansion of 30 facilities nationwide. By Associated Builders and Contractors Construction input prices increased 0.2% in September compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index data. Nonresidential construction input prices also increased 0.2% for the month. Overall construction input prices were 3.5% higher than in September 2024, while nonresidential construction input prices were 3.8% higher. Prices decreased in all three energy categories in September.
