A three-mile section of Coolidge Avenue will receive improvements after securing $5M in state money to partially fund the project.
Coolidge Avenue from Christensen Road to Clemans Road will be widened by four feet, including replacing the asphalt and putting guardrails in place at culvert crossings.
The City of Coolidge requested $5.3M for the expected $8.7M project and received $5M. The remaining project costs will be the City’s responsibility.
Mayor Jon Thompson explained in a February letter to Rep. David Cook, R-Globe, the project had been reviewed by the Sun Corridor Planning Organization’s Technical Advisory Committee and approved by the Sun Corridor Executive Board last year.
The $8.4M price tag includes both design and construction. Design should be finished this year, with construction hoped to begin in 2024. (Source)
