Groundbreakings
1. A.R. Mays Construction started on the 114-unit Alloy Midtown, a new four-story above grade, podium deck apartment building, along with the adaptive reuse conversion of an existing four-story office. Planned work also includes selective demolition of an existing parking garage.
2. Representatives of Vision Capital Partners, the City of Glendale and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce broke ground last month on the 198-unit Cardinal 95 apartment community at 95th and Georgia avenues near the Westgate Entertainment District.
3. ViaWest Group, along with the City of Phoenix and general contractor Stevens-Leinweber Construction, has broken ground on Airport 48 Industrial, a 146.5KSF, Class A industrial building that will sit on one of the last remaining infill parcels in central Phoenix. Airport 48 Industrial is located on nearly 10 acres at 3232 S. 48th Street.
4. Achen-Gardner Construction has broken ground on a new 1,000,000-gallon reservoir for the Town of Carefree and Carefree Water Company.
Progress Reports
5. The new 10-story, 673KSF Valleywise Health Medical Center near 24th Street and Roosevelt in Phoenix is approximately 70% complete. According to reports, the main tower’s final roofing is underway, and finishes have begun on the lower levels and are working their way upward. The project broke ground in February 2019.
6. As crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation continue working on improvements to SR 189 in Nogales, the flyover ramps connecting SR 189 and I-19 are now open to traffic. Work on the $134M project that began in May 2020 will continue through March.
7. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s 8th concourse at Terminal 4 will be opening this summer. Phoenix City Council recently approved the recommended proposals for new restaurants, shops and a common use lounge at the new concourse.
8. The Yuma Regional Medical Center celebrated a topping out ceremony recently for the two-building 57.8KSF YRMC Foothills Health Campus.
9. As of mid-February, the foundation had been poured and exterior walls were starting to go up for the new Chino Valley police station.
Completions
10. The Arizona Department of Transportation has reopened the westbound I-10 offramp and eastbound on-ramp at Miller Road and I-10 in Buckeye following two months of improvement work at the interchanges.
11. Nikola Corporation officials have announced Phase I of the company’s truck plant in Coolidge is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
12. Akara Partners will host a grand opening ceremony on March 16th to celebrate completion of its 23-story, 500KSF mixed-use tower Kenect Phoenix at 355 N. Central Avenue.
13. AAK Architecture & Interiors announced Phase I construction has been completed at the Dells View Apartments. This phase includes two apartment blocks and a clubhouse. The build-out will consist of four new three-story buildings totaling 181.5KSF.
14. A.R. Mays Construction announced the completion of Sonoran Creek Marketplace, a 20-acre site with an 85.5KSF retail center.
15. A.R. Mays Construction has completed Gallery Park Phase II in a 10-acre site infrastructure project that includes roads, decorative pavers, utilities, decorative CMU planters, and decorative CMU monument signs.
