Jet Aviation is planning a new hangar and aircraft vehicle storage facility on 3.26 acres across two adjacent parcels in Scottsdale.
The planned development parcels are located at 7819 E. Greenway Road (35KSF) and 14901 N. Airport Drive (107.3KSF). The Airport Drive parcel is owned by Scottsdale Airport and leased to the company.
The plans consist of a 29.4KSF aircraft hangar, 4.2KSF of support space and a 9.5KSF terminal “for transient and based aircraft,” according to a project overview video prepared by Scottsdale planning staff.
The Greenway Road portion of the project will serve as vehicle storage space for customers who need to be away from the airport for up to several months at a time. The leased portion “will include ramp parking for aircraft, a hangar, a terminal, and a vehicle parking lot to support building use,” according to the submitted project narrative.
The narrative submitted by design firm Mead & Hunt says the design draws inspiration from the form of a saguaro cactus, with vertical elements evocative of the iconic symbol in the windows, columns and louvers.
Jet Aviation completed another hangar and Fixed Base Operator facility at the airport in January of last year.
A hearing date for the Scottsdale Development Review Board to consider the project has not yet been announced.
