As part of its Capital Campaign to raise funds for facility upgrades and a new sports center, The University of Arizona this weekend released details and images for five planned projects:

    • Arizona Stadium Renovations and Upgrades
    • McKale Center
    • Hillenbrand Aquatic Center
    • Hillenbrand Stadium
    • Indoor Sports Center

The total $66M Capital Improvement Plan for sports facilities was approved by the Arizona Board of Regents in September of last year. Student fees, media rights revenue and donor contributions will help fund the projects.

Work is already underway on the $25M Arizona Stadium renovation, which will see upgrades to the lower east concourse and “Zona Zoo”, as well as improved access points on the southeast and east.

The $1.5M McKale Center upgrades will feature new and expanded locker room facilities for a variety of programs. The renovation is targeted for completion in August.

The university’s Hillenbrand Aquatic Center will undergo $15M in renovations, including expanding the pool to 65 meters, increasing the number of 25-yard lanes and improving the plumbing infrastructure. Work is set to begin next month and run to January.

Hillenbrand Stadium will receive its first major renovation in 12 years. Work on the $8M project includes improvements to the press box and seating areas. Work will begin after the softball season ends and is expected to finish before the season starts again next year.

Lastly, the new Indoor Sports Center is budgeted for $15M and will feature a climate-controlled training and conditioning space as well as a 100-yard field. Work begins next month and is scheduled to be completed in December.

Additional details and project information, along with all the new artwork, are available here.
