Town Council and other officials in Paradise Valley recently heard a presentation on plans by Highgate to renovate the Scottsdale Plaza Resort it purchased in 2019.
A 10-item Statement of Direction for the Paradise Valley Planning Commission is scheduled for a review by Council at its Oct. 27 meeting and a vote Nov. 10. The Planning Commission review is expected to be completed by late March 2023.
The resort’s northern portion is planned for minor renovations and upgrades. Highgate is also planning to add a pool deck to the main lobby, which Town planners say will require more information before an assessment can be made.
Plans also call for reduction in overall parking to 547 spaces from the current 738. The addition of an underground parking garage is part of the proposal.
Most of the redevelopment will take place on the southeast side of the property. Plans include three new restaurants, a new lobby pavilion, and enhanced spa and wellness offerings.
The plan will also add 64 hotel rooms, bringing the total to 468 and increasing the floor-area ratio to its maximum allowed density of 25% of lot coverage.
Highgate held a neighborhood meeting before submitting the final plan for consideration. Officials attending the work session generally praised the proposal and the owner’s efforts to solicit and incorporate feedback as part of its preparation. (Source)
