A ceremonial groundbreaking was held last week for Sunlit Chemical near the enormous TSMC chip manufacturing plant currently underway in north Phoenix. Sunlit Chemical purchased the land from Mack Real Estate Group, and the site is part of the larger Mack Innovation Park, also known as ASLD Supplier Site A.
From the press release distributed by the Arizona Commerce Authority: “Representing a $100M total investment in two phases, the 900KSF facility located on 17 acres in north Phoenix will produce hydrofluoric acid and other high purity grade industrial chemicals in the first phase, which will be operational in early 2023. The remaining $50M investment for phase 2 involving raw material purification will be operational in 2025. The facility will adopt the vertical integration manufacturing process, streamlining operations.”
Design of the facility was led by Weiss•Magness Architects. Construction services are being handled by Brycon. The project is expected to take roughly one year to complete. Meanwhile infrastructure to the rest of the sites that comprise the Mack Innovation Park is expected to begin shortly and be complete in time for the Sunlit Chemical plant to open in 2023.
The Sunlit site is roughly 10% of the larger Mack Innovation Park, which comprises 115 acres roughly bounded by 19th Avenue and 7th Avenue to the west and east, and Alameda Road and approximately halfway down to Pinnacle Peak Road to the north and south.
This may be the first parcel to move forward within ASLD Supplier Site A or Mack Innovation Park, but certainly not the last.
