    Awards & Accolades

    1. Two Arizona projects from Norris Design won awards from the National Association of Home Builders at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas. Norris’ work on the Hospice of the Valley Dementia Care & Education Center was recognized with top honors, a Gold Award, in the Best Assisted Living or Memory Care Community category, and TerraSante was recognized with a Gold Award in the On the Boards Community category.

    Groundbreakings

    2. Family Development (Blue Vista Capital Management LLC) recently announced construction starts for two Build-to-Rent projects in the West Valley under its “Villas” brand. Villas Litchfield Park and Villas Goodyear will start construction this month and are expected to deliver next year.

    3. Zekelman Industries recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its 321-unit Fuze Ballpark Apartments development in Glendale. The project will be developed by Zekelman subsidiary Z Modular and showcases the company’s due on- and offsite construction approach.

    4. Graycor Construction Company has started construction on a new, 123.5KSF flex industrial facility in Surprise for Rinchem Company LLC. The new facility will be Rinchem’s third in metro Phoenix.

    5. Earlier this month, Maricopa officials and project stakeholders held a groundbreaking event to celebrate the start of construction for the Maricopa Police Administration and Emergency Communications Center at the NEC of Bowlin Road and Maya Angelou Drive.

    Completions

    6. Owner/developer The Sanders Trust announced the completion of Dignity Health East Valley Rehabilitation Hospital – Gilbert. The $33M, two-story, 56KSF hospital features 40-beds in all private rooms.

    7. Newsom Village, a 60-unit affordable housing development on South 9th Street in south Phoenix, is now open.

    8. After nine months of construction, the Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation. The project added new guest rooms and suites, along with additional dining and health and wellness options for guests.

    9. A.R. Mays Construction announced the completion of Germaine RV & Marine Center, a $4.5M, 31.3KSF facility in Mesa developed by Monty Germaine and designed by Edifice Architecture.

    10. Mesa is celebrating the completion of the expansion and renovation of the Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of the most significant renovation at Dobson Ranch Library since it opened in 1987. The construction project that began in February 2022 expands the library’s footprint by 1,600SF and adds a THINKspot maker space for community innovation and networking.

    11. CrossRoads Church of Casa Grande will begin holding services in its new “mega-church” facility on East Florence Blvd. next month. The church purchased the 42KSF former LA Fitness building last year and began renovations. The new facility has nearly 1,200 theater-style seats and can serve up to 2,000 attendees at one time, according to church officials.
