    Groundbreakings

    1. With construction underway on the first Guaranteed Maximum Price portion of the $26M Litchfield Park City Center, it has been announced that the project will now officially be called Litchfield Square. The first GMP, set at $3.5M, began July 12th. The funds will cover the preparation of the construction site, installation of the sanitary sewer system, mass grading of most of the site and the order cost of long lead-time items. EPS Group is the design firm and Achen-Gardner Construction is the general contractor.

    2. McCarthy Building Companies Inc. recently celebrated the beginning of construction on its new, 40KSF, two-story, multi-functional Innovation and Craft Workforce Center (ICWC) with a wall-breaking ceremony on July 22nd. The training facility is set to be the future home of Builders U, the firm’s existing craft workforce training program. DLR Group is the design firm on the project. The facility is expected to open in January 2022.

    3. Hubbard Street Group and Cresset Real Estate Partners broke ground on the 26-floor, 309-unit Skye on 6th multifamily development at the SEC of 6th and Garfield Streets in Downtown Phoenix. The project will be LEED certified and is expected to be completed by Summer 2023. Shepley Bulfinch is the architect and Clayco is the general contractor.

    4. MHG Commercial have received construction permits for the 32-acre Estrella Gin Business Park and will begin work on the initial 6KSF of office space. That space will house the offices of the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance and should be done late this year or early next year. After MEDA’s office, the next building to start construction will be a 45KSF flex/industrial space.

    5. Construction is underway on Sonoran Studio, the first “living building” in Arizona, which will serve as an office for the building’s architecture and design firm, Architectural Resource Team. Located near Indian School Road and 10th Street, the 5KSF is expected to take between eight to 10 months, WestCon Cos. is the general contractor.

    Progress Reports

    6. Progress on replacing the Interstate 40 bridges over Business 40 in west Flagstaff has reached a milestone as reconstruction of the inside lanes on each bridge is complete. ADOT anticipates completing the second half of the I-40 bridges this fall before the project goes into hiatus for the winter.

    7. Shooter’s World is opening its third Phoenix-area location at 13740 W. Auto Drive in Goodyear. The 36KSF building is expected to open in early Fall 2021. The facility includes an education center offering multiple group training rooms and individual private-lesson pods for one-on-one training. The retail space is over 5KSF with product displays and demonstration zones, allowing visitors a hands-on approach to buying.

    8. Mountainside Fitness announced the opening of its 40KSF Mesa facility on Saturday, September 4th. It will be located off the Loop 202 and Ray Road at 9311 E. Cadence Parkway in Mesa. Adaptive Architects is the design firm and Ryan Companies is the general contractor.

The newly improved court was unveiled in a recent ceremony.
