Surprise Gets $16M in CARES Cash
The City of Surprise recently received more than $16M via the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act to help offset tax losses and other budget impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are intended to help with public safety personnel costs. Money freed up through the assistance payment will be used to shore up the General Fund in the face of sales tax losses. The Arizona Association of School Business Officials has announced the cancelation of its Annual Conference for 2020. The event will be reconfigured as a virtual conference at a later date.
