A rezoning request before the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors could deliver a mix of housing types and commercial develop to a county island at 83rd Avenue and Broadway Road in southwest Phoenix. The request would rezone 114 acres at the SEC and SWC of the intersection. The Maricopa County Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the plan for approval in October. If approved, the plan would feature up to 1,100 residential units in a mix of single-family homes, neo-traditional/detached and multifamily homes. Sixteen acres of open space are included. (Source)
City officials are considering a change to the Surprise General Plan 2035 that would change more than 190 acres south of Pinnacle Peak Road and east of 163rd Avenue from commerce and office character to a neighborhood character area. The proposal from EPS Group Inc. would enable the addition of more homes in the area and also provide improvements to 163rd Avenue without requiring a bond request. The Surprise City Council is expected to vote on the proposal in its December 7th meeting. Approval would require a two-thirds majority. (Source)
