Groundbreakings

1. Steelmaker CMC has broken ground in Mesa on its new facility, next to its existing micro mill on Germann Road. The new mill is being billed as the world’s first “combination merchant bar and rebar producing micro mill.”

2. Real Estate Equities will break ground later this month on Copa Flats, a 312-unit, three-story apartment community in Maricopa. Buildout on the $88M project is expected by the end of next year.

3. Adolfson & Peterson Construction has started construction on the three-story, 49KSF Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital on 3.7 acres in Peoria.

4. Construction is set to begin soon on Maricopa’s new Police Administration and Emergency Communication Center, a 25KSF, single-story building near the Pinal County Complex at Garvey and Wilson avenues.

5. CCS Presentation Systems held a ceremonial groundbreaking on January 6th to kick off construction of its new two-story 36KSF corporate headquarters in Mesa.

Progress Reports

6. Construction is well underway at SimonCRE’s 700KSF Village of Prasada shopping center in Surprise. The first half is expected to open near the end of the year, and the second half should deliver sometime in 2023. Announcements are also expected on a multifamily project on the site in the near future.

7. Kohler Co.’s 1MSF manufacturing plant earned a design approval recommendation from the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month.

8. Maricopa Unified School District held a beam signing ceremony at the under-construction Desert Sunrise High School to mark progress on the $37M project.

Completions

9. The last major components of the $185M Loop 101 Improvement Project in the north Valley have been completed. The project added a fourth general purpose lane in each direction along 13 miles of Loop 101.

10. The recently completed $20M, 60KSF Pinal County Attorney’s Office building at the Pinal Justice Complex in Florence was dedicated in a ceremony on January 4th.

11. Officials with the City of Maricopa have announced a February 4th completion target for the median beautification project on John Wayne Parkway.

12. Valley Metro has announced the latest S700 Light Rail Vehicles from Siemens Mobility entered revenue service on Valley Metro in Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa this week. The new fleet is being introduced gradually into the system after testing is completed. They will operate on the current 28-mile system between northwest Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa.
