The Gilbert Planning Commission met earlier this month to discuss a conditional use permit request for a Higley Storage, 122KSF self-storage development on 2.4 acres at Higley and Williams Field roads.
City staff informed the Commission the proposal has gone through the initial review and a presentation and staff report are being prepared.
Developer Wentworth Property Company had previously held two neighborhood meetings to discuss the project. Attendees questioned the landscape buffer between the development and nearby residential properties and raised concerns about site security, lighting and the potential of attracting transients.
Staff had also recommended changes to the building’s roofline to break up the visual impact.
During the review, staff fielded questions about the site’s proposed lighting and the building’s orientation. The Commission took no action, as the meeting was a study session. Staff did not provide a date for the proposal to come back before the Commission for a vote. (Source)
