    Groundbreakings

    1. Representatives from North American Development Group, Will Bruder Architects, LJC and Clayco joined local officials to celebrate the official groundbreaking of PALMtower Residences at Arizona Center, a new 28-story tower in downtown Phoenix. The structure is scheduled for completion in early 2024.

    2. The Mayo Clinic has broken ground on its 150KSF Integrated Education and Research Building near 56th Street and Mayo Blvd. in north Phoenix. The building is part of a $748M expansion plan.

    3. Construction has begun on the $30M project to expand and improve Red Mountain Park on Brown Road in Mesa. Completion is expected in early-to-mid-2024.

    4. A.R. Mays Construction has started work on the 61KSF $15.8M FatCats family entertainment center near Loop 303 and Sweetwater Road in Surprise.

    5. The Arizona Department of Transportation has announced it will begin work on three northwestern Arizona bridge rehabilitation projects this year: Bridge decks at 1-40 Exit 123 into Seligman, the Anvil Rock Road overpass for I-40,
    and the rehabilitation of the Kabba Wash Bridge on US93
    at milepost 97 north of Wikieup.

    Progress Reports

    6. Construction on the 11-story, 265-room Caesars Republic Scottsdale hotel, which had been put on hold during the pandemic, has resumed. The hotelโ€™s opening is planned for Q1 2024.

    7. The pace of construction is increasing for the Chevelon Butte Wind Farm near Winslow. Workers and management staff from The AES Corporation and project contractors have moved into the Flagstaff and Winslow areas, and a lead contractor has set up an office in Winslow.

    8. Arizona Public Service continues to make progress on its efforts to supply the power infrastructure for the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. plant in north Phoenix. The company is in the process of relocating three sets of transmission lines to enable other infrastructure projects on the site. APS will also build a substation and switchyard between the plant and I-17.

    9. The Phase I/Stage I of improvements to Thornton Road in Casa Grande is nearly complete, and City Council approved $7.2M for the next round of the project, which is intended to aid the development of Lucid Motors operations as well as improve transportation options for the public. Thornton will be reconstructed between Selma Highway and Peters Road.

    10. Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently topped out Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitalin Peoria. The three-story, 49KSF facility will host 40 patient beds, two high-tech physical therapy gyms, administrative offices, dining and kitchen spaces and other service and support areas on 3.71 acres.

    11. The foundation and steel building are in place for VFW Post 6310 in Tolleson. Stakeholders are working to raise the needed funding to complete the interior and exterior. A planned 2022 grand opening has been delayed.

    12. Developer and hospitality guru Sam Fox and his team have put The Global Ambassador luxury hotel development, under construction at 5100 N. 44th St. in Phoenix, back in the news with the disclosure that celebrities Devin Booker, Larry Fitzgerald and Dierks Bentley have signed on as investors.

    Completions

    13. EPCOR USA announced it has completed a $21M expansion of the Pecan Water Reclamation Facility in San Tan Valley. The expansion increases the plant’s capacity by 1M GPD. The project began in March 2021.

    14. The City of Avondale celebrated the opening of Fire Station 175 with a ribbon-cutting and open house. Fire Station 175, nicknamed “The Oasis”, is located at 12495 W. Van Buren. Perlman Architects designed the 17KSF structure and Willmeng Construction built it. Work started in April 2021 and was completed in February 2022.

    15. The Arizona Department of Transportation has opened a mile-long section of SR 24 as an interim four-lane roadway between Ellsworth and Williams Field roads. The extension was completed several months ahead of schedule as part of a partnership between ADOT, the City of Mesa and Legacy Sports USA.

    16. A.R. Mays Construction announced the completion of its 13.8KSF, $3.1M Westgate MOB project at 7300 N. 99th Ave. in Glendale. The project was developed by 101 Healthcare LLC and designed by Butler Design Group.

    17. LifeStance Health has completed its new 20KSF corporate headquarters at 4800 N. Scottsdale Rd.
