Tempe Chamber Focused on Help
Like its economic development and businesses assistance peers around Arizona and the U.S., the Tempe Chamber of Commerce saw, and continues to see, challenges in helping members navigate the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders say they had to adapt quickly to provide resources and information in the early stages, and that they continue to work diligently to stay abreast of evolving needs and processes. (Source)
Adaptability, Focus Helped GPEC Gains
Even though it was taken by surprise as much as any other organization, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council saw a 15 percent gain in net new deal activity by the end of 2020. Leaders credit the gains to comfort with adopting digital technology, maintaining focus on near- and long-term goals, and pursuing targets of both geographic and market sector opportunity. (Source)
Rents Dip Nationally for 7th Straight Month
On average, rents declined 0.8 percent year-over-year in December, marking the seventh straight month of declines. While high-cost markets are seeing drops, “gateway” and lower-cost-of-living markets are experiencing growth higher than 2019 levels. Nearly half of the top 30 markets saw flat or positive growth YoY. (Source)
