‘Tis the holiday season, time to spread joy and cheer.
Offices are closing, vacations draw near.
Families rejoice to celebrate the year end,
While relaxing at home and skyping with friends.
But humbugs approach with deadlines in tow,
Seeking perfect proposals topped with a bow.
End of year bid dates are approaching with haste,
Put down that hot cocoa, there’s no time to waste.
The Hualapai Tribe needs a new EOC,
and design RFP’s are due 12/23.
On Christmas Eve, don’t leave work too soon,
The county’s air dryer is due after noon.
After the weekend it’s back to the grind,
Site work for Mohave is due 12/29.
Snowflake’s IFB puts us in a time crunch,
For a new water tank, a response is due before lunch.
No time for a break to relax and unwind,
All these 12/30 bid dates are most unkind.
Road supplies, chips and asphalt, culvert pipes and cold mix,
Are all due to Graham County no later than six.
There’s Flagstaff’s Airport JOC,
And barbed wire fencing for Navajo County.
Don’t forget Scottsdale’s irrigation pumps,
These year-end requests have us down in the dumps.
Ak-chin wants light poles, a total of 18,
And Mesa needs plumbing supplies due by three.
With all these procurements, it’s hard to believe,
There’s really nothing needed by New Year’s Eve!
But just when you think things are going your way,
The Air Force set a deadline for New Year’s Day!
So, break out the coffee and skip the champagne,
Luke AFB needs their Auto Doors maintained.
On the fourth, back to work, there is no delay,
To submit to ADOT before the end of the day.
An on-call construction admin they need,
Post-holiday break? What a mean trick indeed.
These are the humbugs we’ve called out this year,
2020 seems to have more, we fear.
But don’t shed a tear, don’t complain or pout,
If the humbugs keep coming, we’ll keep calling them out!
Happy Holidays from the BEX Family!
