The project, called Stadium Point, will include more than 1MSF of development on 17 acres owned by the city along 83rd Avenue south of Bell Road. Source: City of Phoenix Phoenix City Council unanimously approved a new citywide affordable housing initiative that will work to address the many housing needs in the nation’s fastest-growing city. Earlier in the day, Phoenix Housing Department staff and Mayor Kate Gallego joined U.S. Housing Secretary Ben Carson as he toured city housing sites. The plan will address the need for an additional 163,000 housing units in Phoenix. Housing costs have grown in Phoenix as wages have stayed stagnant. Source: Associated Builders and Contractors Construction input prices rose 0.8 percent in May compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index data released today. Nonresidential construction input prices rose by 0.8 percent for the month as well. Of the 11 subcategories, only three experienced monthly decreases, with the largest decrease in steel mill products, which fell 3.1 percent in May. The rise in prices was driven primarily by the three energy subcategories, which experienced significant increases over the previous month.
