Awards & Accolades
1. PK Associates announced it has been awarded a National Council of Structural Engineers Associations 2022 Structural Engineering Excellence Award in the category of New Buildings under $30M for the Helios Education Foundation Campus.
2. KTGY announced it earned nine prestigious awards, including one Gold award and eight Silver awards at the recent National Association of Home Builders’ awards events held during the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas: the Best in American Living Awards and The Nationals. One award was a Silver Nationals Award for Caleda – The Triana, in Queen Creek in the Best Single-Family Detached Home 3001-3500SF category. The project was designed by KTGY and developed by Toll Brothers.
Progress Reports
3. The Maricopa County Flood Control District expects Phase I of the five-phase McMicken Dam Rehabilitation Project in Surprise to be completed in September or October. Phase I focuses on building a new emergency spillway and principal outlet at the dam’s northern end, near Trilby Wash. Phase II will tie the new spillway to the rest of the dam’s infrastructure and is expected to complete design in two years. The full project is expected to last 15-20 years and cost $140M.
4. The $26M, 1.6-mile Sonoran Desert Parkway from SR 347 and Ak-Chin Parkway to Porter Road is on track for completion this summer, according to officials with the City of Maricopa.
5. A $2.9M roundabout intersection at Pioneer Parkway and Commerce Drive in Prescott is expected to be complete in March. Funded by Yavapai County and the City of Prescott, the project was originally targeted for delivery this month but was delayed by weather.
Completions
6. The West Line Solar project by The AES Corporation has finished construction. Officials from AES, Salt River Project, Meta, Pinal County and the City of Eloy recently hosted an unveiling for the project.
7. Phoenix Children’s announced the completion of the 10th Floor portion of its 10th & 11th Floor renovation project. Established as shelled space when the tower at the Thomas Campus was completed in 2011, the 10th Floor portion adds 49 beds. The total project will create a total of 88KSF of new space, including 100 new beds. The project is part of a series of tenant improvements and renovations planned for the Thomas Campus.
