Groundbreakings
1. Higley Unified School District held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 20KSF academic building at Higley High School on East Pecos Road in Gilbert. The facility was designed by DLR Group and is being built by CHASSE Building Team.
2. FCL Builders recently broke ground on the Power 202 Logistics Park for developer Johnson Development Associates. The project includes four industrial buildings totaling 543KSF in both double and rear loading configurations. Ware Malcomb is the architect and Pat Feeney, Dan Calihan and Tyler Vowels with CBRE are handling leasing. Delivery is targeted for fall of 2023.
3. Coconino County has begun construction to replace 1.2 miles of deteriorated pavement on Parks Road, Old Route 66 and Government Prairie Road. Work is expected to be complete by mid-October.
Progress Reports
4. Opwest Partners, in partnership with Iridius Capital, have announced The Leo Kent, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, at One South Church in Tucson will open early next year.
Completions
5. Alliance Residential has announced the completion of two projects under its Broadstone brand. The 274-unit SEVENTYONE15 in south Scottsdale and 288-unit Broadstone Dobson Ranch in Mesa – both designed by ORB Architects – have finished construction.
6. Sundt Construction, in partnership with Concord General Contracting, has completed the $65M Tucson Convention Center renovation project in downtown Tucson.
7. The 40-acre Alamar Park in Avondale, built in partnership between the City of Avondale and Brookfield Residential, will hold a formal opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 8.
8. Fry’s Food Stores has announced its latest grocery store – a 109KSF location on Norterra Parkway that serves as anchor for a multi-outlet retail center – will open Oct. 5.
9. The 164th Street waterline – part of the Area 1 Tankersley Water System Project in Gilbert – has been completed, as had most other work in advance of the Aug. 31 target. Residential services work is ongoing.
10. Exceptional Community Hospital in Maricopa announced its Fast Track ER project has completed and is now open to patients.
