Scottsdale’s Fire Department is planning to build a new 10KSF station at Hayden and Jomax roads.

The single-story building will consist of three equipment bays and eight bunk rooms for firefighters, with associated living spaces and offices.

Design for the new facility is intended to comply with the city’s character area requirements and other guidelines, including the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Ordinance.

The Western Ranch style structure will feature desert tones on the exterior materials and deep overhangs to minimize the building’s visual effect to a residential scale. Landscaping will preserve the majority of the native desert vegetation and relocate salvageable trees and cacti to create a mature looking environment.

Design will be LEED Gold and focus on water, energy and material resource savings. Sustainability features include parking for bicycles, hybrid and carpool vehicles, and solar reflective wall and roof colors.
