A long-vacant corner at Scottsdale Road and 2nd Street will become home to the area’s latest mixed-use retail and luxury residential development if plans for the 17KSF building area 2nd Street Square project are approved
The proposal calls for two retail/restaurant suites of 1,224SF and 1,747SF. Also on the property will be four luxury two-bedroom, two-bath condominiums of between 1,700SF and 1,800SF.
Planned building materials include custom steel shingles, colored sandblasted masonry and panelized façades. The residential units will have exterior balconies, private garages, storage units and “outdoor living room” common areas.
In keeping with Scottsdale’s urban development goals, the project is intended to serve as a link between the restaurant properties to the north and south and provide a more integrated pedestrian experience. Both the 2nd Street and Scottsdale Road frontages feature plans for at-grade exterior patios.
Design elements include recessed wall planes, deep balconies, overhangs and strong shadow lines as part of a, “Complete architectural statement proving as an asset to all surrounding neighboring properties.”
The landscaping plan calls to retain the palm trees already in place. These will be augmented with Baja ruellia and cape honeysuckle shrubs, along with bougainvillea and lantana.
