A developer will build a 340-unit apartment complex north of the Westgate Entertainment District, pending approval by the City of Glendale.
The Glendale Planning Commission considered the proposal at their Feb. 4 meeting. According to the staff report, Fore Property Company wants to build the Zanjero Apartments on part of a 158-acre PAD approved in 2003 for mixed-use development, such as hotels, retail, restaurants and multifamily. Other developments already in place include Cabela’s, Cracker Barrell restaurant, and several hotels.
Zanjero Apartments would be built on about 18 acres on the NEC of Glendale and 95th avenues. The proposed gated community would consist of 175 one-bedroom, 147 two-bedroom and 18 three-bedroom units with 198 uncovered parking spaces, 320 covered spaces and 101 garages for a total of 619 spaces for residents and guests.
Maximum building height is set at 48’ (three stories) and buildings would adhere to four-sided architecture design standards. According to Glendale design standards, four-sided architecture provides “an equal level of architectural detail and landscaping … incorporated into all sides of freestanding buildings, because they are generally visible from all sides.”
On-site amenities would include two resort-style lagoon pools, cabanas and ramadas, whirlpool spas, fitness center, and a park with a play structure.
