SunZia Transmission LLC this week signed a deal with a major tenant to supply power to a planned electric transmission project traversing Arizona and New Mexico.
First Wind Energy signed to provide 1.5GW of power along the route through wind farms planned in central New Mexico.
SunZia is the largest transmission project on the boards for the Southwest. Stretching roughly 515 miles, it is designed to carry massive amounts of electricity between Arizona and New Mexico.
The project has been seen by renewable project developers as a way to bring plenty of solar and wind through the two states to the grid.
