Santé Partners is proceeding with plans to renovate a vacant three-story building into a 172-unit multi-use senior rehabilitation and health facility in Glendale.

Santé at Zanjero will be located on 7.8 acres near 91st and Glendale avenues. Plans call for memory care, independent/assisted living and transitional rehabilitation units. The primary feature will be a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center with private treatment rooms and complete physical, occupational and speech therapy spaces. Most services will be directed toward post-hospital care for seniors.

No facility of this type is currently located in Glendale, according to the planning documents. The closest similar facility is located in Peoria.

When completed, Santé at Zanjero expects to employ a staff of approximately 150 and serve 1,600 patients per year. Specific healthcare-related components will include on-site services focused on inpatient and outpatient therapy, short term skilled nursing care for rehabilitation, assisted living services and Alzheimer and dementia care. The facility will also provide office space for hospice and home health workers who provide services off-site.

Also on-site will be support amenities such as dining, a health club, barber shop/beauty salon and conference facilities.

Part of the building will consist of rooms and services for patients to receive their transitional rehabilitation in a hotel-like environment with monitored medical care. Length of stays will range from 5-60 days, with 20 days as the expected average.

The building was developed in 2008 but never occupied due to the recession. It will require interior tenant improvements to accommodate the planned use. Additional renovations will include expanded parking, enlarged entrances and outdoor amenities that include a garden area, dining space and a landscaped terrace.
