A busy retail and commercial corridor in Scottsdale will soon be home to the Valley’s newest Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen.

The city’s Development Review Board approved plans last month for the 2,979SF fast food operation to be located on 1.2 acres within the total 10- acre Home Depot-anchored complex on the northeast corner of 90th Street and Mountain View Road.

The new restaurant will incorporate canopy and masonry elements similar to other structures in the area, but will feature parapet roofing to keep it in visual context with the Home Depot store as well.

It also will feature a shaded outdoor dining area along its north side, from which pedestrians will access. This will provide a connection between the restaurant and the street. The restaurant’s drive through will be placed to the back of the building to facilitate traffic flow.

Modifications to the existing site landscaping will be included to distinguish the restaurant area and provide additional shade.

As reported earlier, the area is in the preliminary stages of an $8.6M transit center renovation by the City of Scottsdale and is home to the Honor Shea Medical Center, Mustang Library and numerous retail and office buildings (AZBEX, May 22).
