The City of Mesa Development Review Board considered at its May 10 meeting a developer’s request develop a senior living facility near East Brown and North Ellsworth roads.
If approved, the plan will see three parcels totaling 9.52 acres of vacant desert transformed into the fifth Spectrum Retirement Communities, LLC property in Arizona – the developer already has four retirement communities with locations in Chandler, Peoria and Phoenix. Spectrum operates in 25 communities in 11 states with nearly 3,000 units.
Their Mesa project will have 167 units comprised of 97 independent living units, 52 assisted living units and 24 memory care units. Most of the units will be in the main building, a two-story structure, which will not exceed 30’ in height. Each unit has a full bathroom and kitchenette.
In addition, each of three free-standing casitas will house two two-bedroom, two-bath units. Each casita unit will have a full kitchen, private patio and garage. Community amenities will include a central dining room, private dining rooms, wellness center, beauty shop, meeting room, library, game room, swimming pool and gated courtyard.
Development of the property is expected to be completed in one phase. Spectrum has engaged GastingerWalker& to design the community, with Olsson Associates as the Civil Engineer.
