Consolidating all its cancer units into the new facility makes the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center the largest of the three major cancer centers in the Valley. Even with its 19K SF expansion in Goodyear, Cancer Treatment Centers of America will have around 234K SF. Banner’s M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert is currently 130K SF. An announced seven story patient tower—combined with Banner Gateway Hospital—will increase the facilities to 430K SF.AECOM and Hunt Construction Group picked up a change order last week to add three stories, 271.2K SF and build a $130M consolidated cancer center on Mayo Clinic’s Phoenix campus. This expansion, physically sited on top of the first level of the Proton Beam Therapy Building, brings all cancer-related units under one roof. Mayo Clinic made the announcement at an 8:00 am news conference this morning in Phoenix.

Three outpatient operating rooms, expanded space for transplant, and relocation of some clinical units will also add 36 inpatient hospital beds over time.
