Scottsdale Eyes 36-Unit Mixed-Use Infill

AZBEXclusiveThe city’s Development Review Board will consider a preliminary application to bring yet another interesting mixed-use residential project to the NWC of McDonald Drive and Granite Reef Road in Scottsdale.

The project – called Hudson East – would, when approved, include 36 multifamily units and 2KSF of commercial space to a new four-story building to revitalize existing developments, which consists of a vacant restaurant and multitenant office building. The two properties, located at 8340 and 8350 E. McDonald Drive, will be combined for the project.

“The proposal will redevelop the property from a fading and under-utilized commercial use to a much needed residential down-sizing opportunity for the neighborhood,” according to the submittal document. “Additionally, the integration of additional residential units in this location will strengthen the nearby existing commercial businesses.”

The proposed building will not exceed the neighborhood’s 48-foot height maximum and will include one- and two-bedroom residential units, each with an outdoor balcony.
