Local Industry Professionals Making News 10-5-12

  1. Maricopa Integrated Health Systems CEO Betsey Bayless is retiring as CEO. She will remain in her post for the six- to nine-month replacement recruitment effort. She has headed the organization for seven years culminating a 40 year career in public service. Bayless led an effort to put a bond in front of voters to rebuild the aging hospital and clinic. Although the MIHS board delayed the bond effort for this year, a task force has been formed to solidify the concept before taking to voters at a future date.
  1. SmithGroupJJR announced that its vice president and landscape studio director, Chris Brown, has been elected to the Council of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). The FASLA designation, a recognition of exceptional professional accomplishments, was conferred at the ASLA Annual Meeting September 30th in the Phoenix Convention Center. Brown is a registered landscape architect in seven states and is a LEED accredited professional.
  2. Brendan McCarthy has been promoted to Leasing Director for PS Business Parks from his prior position of assistant leasing director. He is responsible for the overall CRE leasing efforts for the Glendale, Calif.-based company.
  3. Healthcare Trust of America, Inc., appointed Ann Atkinson as director of acquisitions. Atkinson will head HTA’s national growth strategy associated with medical office properties. She was formerly in a similar role at JDM Properties.
