International semiconductor and systems solution component manufacturer Infineon Technologies is looking to expand its wafer production facilities in Mesa with a new 11KSF building.
To be located next to its existing 33KSF facility at 550 W. Juanita Ave., the expansion will feature development, clean room and related space for the company’s silicon waver production services.
According to Infineon’s website, the Mesa facility is currently the world’s largest foundry of its type for silicon wafer production.
The site handles outsourced production for a variety of customers worldwide who need semiconductor components but don’t want to spend the capital to construct, operate and staff their own facilities. Production runs 24-7, and customers include manufacturers, universities and research facilities.
Building materials and design will complement the existing structure and consist of concrete and metal panels in white, tan and grey.
Site preparation and initial construction are planned to start before the end of the First Quarter.
