DeRito Partners and Spectrum Retirement Communities will build a 168-unit, 160KSF congregate care facility on a six-acre portion of a site at the southeast corner of Val Vista Drive and Queen Creek Road in Gilbert. The site will be the first project on a 24.93 gross/19.88 net acre site controlled by DeRito.

The facility will offer, “A mix of assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care,” according to the Gilbert Planning Commission staff report. Sixty-five employees and staff members will provide resident care and service and the memory care unit will be secured for patient safety.

To enhance the resident experience, the facility will offer a fitness center, theater, library, salon, dining area, swimming pool and a greenhouse and garden area. Residents will also be encouraged to take advantage of the volunteering and recreational opportunities made possible by the facility’s proximity to Perry High School.

The care center will consist of two- and three-story sections, with the three-story portion positioned as far north as possible to minimize impact on the nearby residential neighborhood.
