Innocuously called “Site 6,” Chandler is opening a two-phase Request for Information to let a private developer build on 4-1/4 acres west of city hall. The parcel is city-owned and completely undeveloped.
With the lowest downtown vacancy rate in the Valley, Chandler wants to look at proposals from developers to turn empty dirt into productive land usage. The city is looking for developers with true mixed-use development experience. From letters of interest, the city will create a short list eligible to respond to a request for proposals.
“Chandler has invested heavily into this area,” says Teri Killgore, city Downtown Redevelopment Manager. “The market is ripe for this type of development. It’s an excellent time for private development of an entertainment component, office space and additional retail downtown.”
The city is seeking a high quality signature downtown project. Unique architecture is expected with the project located across from the city’s AIA award-winning civic center. The RFI is available at the Downtown Chandler website.
