Banner Health is moving its corporate headquarters off the campus of its flagship hospital to larger space in midtown Phoenix this summer.
The existing office building on the campus of Banner University Medical Center Phoenix houses about 140KSF of corporate office space.
Banner President and CEO Peter Fine said the Phoenix-based nonprofit has run out of office space at the campus.
“We needed more space because corporate functions were growing,” he said.
Originally, he considered building more space on the hospital visitor overflow parking lot just north of the corporate office at the southeast corner of 12th Street and McDowell Road. But he said it made more financial sense to lease space off the campus instead.
While the lease hasn’t been signed for its new headquarters in midtown Phoenix, Banner Health officials have revealed a few more details about the nonprofit’s expansion plans.
Plans call for leasing 220KSF during the first phase in late summer and expanding that up to 320KSF, with more opportunities to take additional space if needed in the future, said Kip Edwards, vice president of development and construction for Banner.
About 800 employees will move over to the new corporate headquarters in midtown during the first phase, with the new space able to accommodate as many as 1,400 corporate employees. Its existing space at 12th Street and McDowell Road currently houses about 600 employees.
