Banner Health has submitted plans for a new inpatient building and expansion at its Banner Behavioral Health Hospital at 7575 E. Earll Drive in south Scottsdale. When completed, the facility will offer a total bed count of 154. The current count is 92 (AZBEX, June 30).
An existing building, basketball court and lawn space will be demolished and replaced with a two-story patient tower of approximately 80KSF. The tower will offer bed space for 96 adult psychiatric patients, broken into 4 units.
In addition, the renovation and expansion will feature a new indoor recreation and dining space, pharmacy facilities, building services and equipment, and outdoor courtyard and recreation facilities with sports areas, seating and meditation gardens.
The building exterior will have the brand-centric “Banner Block” concrete masonry pattern of four colors and three visual textures evoking the pattering of Arizona desert canyon walls. This will be accented by vertical glazing ribbons to resemble a waterfall. Visual interest and sun protection will be incorporated via shading fins.
The facility’s south parking area will be slightly expanded, while pedestrian and bicycle paths from sidewalks and the nearby bus stop will connect to the main entrance.
